Frequently Asked Questions

Plesse find below the answers to a few common support questions.

Problem: No dial tone and phone does not ring.
Solution: 1. Make sure you are using the telephone line cable supplied with your phones as they are not all the same.
2. Check your phone socket is making a good connection by removing any adaptors and try moving the plug in the socket.

Problem: There is inerference on the line.
Solution: If you have ADSL broadband on your line check there is a working filter installed.
Some phone are more sensitive than others to noise so it is worth changing the filter even if it was working with another phone.

Problem: Phone gets feedback and sound is distorted either on normal earpiece or handsfree.
Solution: The handset volume is too high, reduce the volume to prevent feedback.

Problem: The caller ID does not display the callers number.
Solution: 1. Check that the caller display service is acitive on your line.
2. If there is a ADSL filter fitted make sure that it is a high quality active one that allows the caller id signal to pass.
3. Replace the ADSL filter.

Problem: I am unable to register my additional handset.
Solution: 1. Check that the batteries in the new handset are fully charged.
2. Make sure you hold the page button on the main base for at least 10 seconds to put it into regsitration mode.
3. Check you have the correct PIN number for the base.
4. Make sure the base has spare capacity for the additional handset. (Most bases will support 4 or 5 handsets in total.)

Problem: The handset goes off intermittantly when touched or knocked.
Solution: Check the battery contacts are clean and making good contact.
Bend the metal fingers out slightly in the battery compartment to ensure they are making a good connection.

Problem: I have installed new batteries in my handset but is has no power even after charging.
Solution: Check the new batteries are making good contact by bending the contacts outwards slightly.

Problem: My answering machine is not picking up the line or taking messages.
Solution: Check you do not have your telephone providers answering service switch on which will pick up the line before the answering machine.
Call 151 from your phone to check if the service is active.
